Many communities and schools are joining in the movement for more walking and biking as a part of active transportation. To support this movement, the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) announces the new Minnesota Walk! Bike! Fun! Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Curriculum.

Walk! Bike! Fun! is written to encourage more children to walk or bike to school and throughout the community by providing schools with tools to teach safe walking and biking. This curriculum is designed for physical education, health teachers and other MINNESOTA educators to use to engage students WALK! BIKE! FUN! in a thoughtful, fun and interactive program to learn safety tips and skills that will last them a lifetime.

Crow Wing Energized has been awarded a grant by the NFL for the creation of two youth bike fleets. These youth bike fleets will primarily be used by elementary schools in Crow Wing County to facilitate the Walk! Bike! Fun! curriculum in the schools.

Now that school is no longer in session, Crow Wing Energized bike fleets are available for rental in Crow Wing County.

The fleets have a flat rate fee of $100 per fleet, per week. They may be rented for up to two weeks at a time. The fleets are available for use from June 5 to August 25.

Large fleet:

  • 2 adult bikes
  • 34 youth bikes (intended ages 7-11)
  • helmets
  • other supplies

Small fleet:

  • 2 adult bikes
  • 22 youth bikes (intended ages 7-11)
  • helmets
  • other supplies

Priority will be given to groups, organizations and agencies that are providing specific bicycle education (bike rodeos, classroom instruction, etc.), however the fleet is available for general group rides.

A rental agreement must be signed and waivers must be filled out by users of the fleet as Crow Wing Energized is not liable for any injuries.

If you are interested in renting the fleet, please fill out the following SURVEY and you will be contacted by Jessica Waytashek for coordination.
