Gardening for Health Lunch and Learn May 19, 2021 12:00-12:30 pm
Just like human health requires a healthy gut microbiome, so does soil health. Soil health is defined by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service as “The continued capacity of soil to function as a vital living ecosystem that sustains plants, animals, and humans.” They have adopted basic principles to achieve soil health, regardless of scale or where you live. This program will explain how healthy soil functions, the principles to achieve it, and give some ideas on how those can be implemented in your backyard, and in our agricultural landscapes. I will also touch on the relationship between soil health and human health and
new research supporting this topic.
• Come away with a basic understand of how healthy soil functions and
• Understand the basic principles to achieve a vital living soil ecosystem.
