Learn how to create a healthier lifestyle and prevent diabetes in a 24 session diabetes prevention program over the course of one year. Groups will meet with a certified lifestyle change instructor to help participants lose weight, eat healthier, change habits and increase physical activity. There will be 16 sessions offered over the first 4 to 6 months, and monthly follow-up sessions for the remainder of the year.

All classes will be held online via Zoom. Once you have registered, your coach, Kara Schaefer, will reach out to you with directions on how to join the class.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program is a community-based, CDC recognized, lifestyle change program that offers diabetes prevention education and support for people with pre-diabetes. Pre-diabetes involves blood sugar levels that are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diabetes. An individual with pre-diabetes can delay or prevent type 2 diabetes by making simple lifestyle changes. Changes in diet resulting in a 5-7% weight loss (usually about 10 -15 pounds) often work to bring blood sugar levels back down to a healthy range. Additionally moderate exercise will be introduced and participants will have the goal of working up to 150 minutes a week. Eating healthier and increased physical activity have been proven to have the most successful results.

This class is not intended for individuals under the age of 18 or someone who is pregnant. Please contact your primary care provider with questions about your health or gestational diabetes.
